Endorsement from the Schools Health Education Unit
We are delighted to see how well our colleagues in Guernsey are using their Health Related Behaviour Questionnaire results in this website format.
The preparation that has gone into this piece of work has been meticulous and it is evident that the data is being used to inform decision making at all levels on the Island. The innovative way that the data is being presented will allow the greatest access possible for all those interested in the lifestyle behaviours of young people on the Island. We look forward to hearing about its impact and future developments.
It is for the Guernsey community to evaluate the results and to determine what the findings say about Guernsey's young people. At the Schools Health Education Unit, we continuously examine the behaviour and attitudes of young people. We believe that Guernsey young people compare well with young people elsewhere. You can quite rightly describe them as 'top class teenagers'. The vast majority are positive and confident and they lead healthy, active lives. They are obviously proud of their island. The year 6 pupil results also show that they are a credit to Guernsey The survey highlights areas for concern and the information will enable all those involved with young people to consider how to respond. The evidence base from the 2007 young people's survey leaves Guernsey well-placed to move forward with confidence.
